- Improve performance tracking
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Positively impact communities
- Catalyze the advancement of green building initiatives and sustainable operations within the hospitality industry
Key Initiatives at Greenbuild Europe
- Greenbuild Europe is offsetting 100% of emissions from travel to and from Dublin, Ireland for the event. Belen Wind Turkey, a project which generates renewable wind energy to the Turkish National energy grid, will provide the offsets for Greenbuild Europe.
- Green Venue: Croke Park Stadium - Croke Park was the first stadium in Ireland and Britain to secure both ISO14001, ISO 20121, and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
- All meals will feature locally sourced, in season ingredients - some of which come from Croke Park Stadium’s Farm in North County Dublin
- Coffee served at the event will be organic, fair trade, and roasted locally in Dublin
- All seafood will meet the Common Fisheries Policy (EU).
- At least 50% vegetarian or vegan options will be offered
- All service-ware is durable and reusable or compostable
- ~80% of waste from Croke Park Stadium is diverted to composting and recycling facilities and Greenbuild Europe has a waste diversion goal of 90%
- Conference lanyards are made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic bottles
- All service-ware is durable and reusable or compostable
- Exhibitors, partners, and speakers are given specific sustainability guidelines and the number of handouts and giveaways permitted is limited

Getting to Dublin
- Where possible, choose a non-stop flight over a flight with one or more stops. Taking off, landing, and taxiing are the most carbon-intensive portions of air travel. Fewer stops, less greenhouse gas!
- Choose to fly economy class. Due to the greater number of passengers that can sit in coach as compared to business class or first class, the carbon footprint of a coach seat is smaller.
Local Travel in Dublin
- Walk or bike to and from the event whenever possible.
- Take advantage of bikes available for hourly rental at multiple stations across the city. More information and a map on where to find the stations are here: http://www.dublinbikes.ie/
- Going somewhere too far to walk or bike? Make sure to utilize Dublin’s vast public transportation options. Plan your trip with Transport for Ireland and purchase a pass for bus, train and tram service in Dublin.
- If you must drive, arrange a carpool with fellow attendees or use the ‘carpool’ feature in a rideshare app.
